ISBrescia Easter Egg Hunt

Apr 5, 2012   //   by stefano.anzuinelli   //   Blog  //  No Comments

On Wednesday 4th April, The International School of Brescia celebrated its annual Easter Egg Hunt! It was great to see so many of our children display acts of sharing and caring towards each other. Our Pre-K and Kindergarten students started the morning with their own Easter egg hunt as Miss Kelsey and Miss Milena proved to be very good at hiding the children’s Easter eggs. Transition with Miss Fiona had their own egg hunt as they had made special baskets in class to collect all of the chocolate eggs. Miss Claire, Miss Sarah and Mr Michael with Grades 1, 2 & 3 then took over the hall as it was transformed into an Easter egg bonanza!

All students thoroughly enjoyed the Easter egg hunt as it proved to be a great way to complete the first half of term 2. We hope that all families have a happy and safe Easter holiday break together.

PYP IBO Inspector visits ISBrescia

Apr 5, 2012   //   by stefano.anzuinelli   //   Blog  //  No Comments

On the 26th and 27th of March the International School of Brescia welcomed PYP IBO inspector Mr. Steven Thompson. Mr Thompson currently works as the head of PYP in an International School in Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates). He has extensive knowledge and expe

rience with IBO having worked in Australia, Portugal, South East Asia and now the Gulf.

As you are well aware the International School of Brescia currently holds the status as an IBO PYP Candidate school. Since November 2010 when the school obtained candidate status much work and organisation has taken place to ensure that all the necessary steps have taken place for the school to obtain IBO PYP Accreditation.

The purpose of Mr Thompson’s visit to the International School of Brescia was to conduct a pre-verification summary. Over the 2 day visit Mr Thompson looked at all aspects of our school. He read over all of our documentation including our scope & sequence, assessment, policies, PD for teachers and incorporation of the IB Learner profile.

Mr Thompson interviewed all of our teaching staff as well as students and parents. He spent an extended amount of time with our PYP Director Ms Beth Merritt as well as with our CEO Dr. Stefano Anzuinelli and Principal Mr Patrick Arcuri.  Mr Thompson was pleased with the progress the school has made in such a short amount of time and was particularly complementary of the work that our PYP Director Ms Beth has completed along with the support of our dedicated teachers.

The school will be receiving a report from Mr Thompson most likely in September outlining recommendation or further steps for IBO accreditation.

Students and their teachers enjoyed a special celebration in honor of St. Patrick, patron saint of Ireland, during their assembly of 16 March. The students were very curious to learn more about it and why their teachers had decorated the hall with the tri-color flags of Ireland. After watching a short video of traditional Irish dancing, students were then taught special dance moves. Everyone grabbed a partner, including the teachers, and the hall was full of music and fun!

Feb 14, 2012   //   by stefano.anzuinelli   //   Blog  //  No Comments

A big thank you to all of the parents and grandparents who attended our IB Afternoon on 9 February. The number of visitors who attended was phenomenal. Teachers in each grade presented creative and innovative strategies to excite interest and involvement, emphasizing the taught curriculum of the IB Primary Years Programme. At IS Brescia, our teachers focus daily not only on the actual content of the lessons but the best and most innovative ways to teach the content. To be effective, lessons must be engaging, relevant, challenging, signficant, and student-centered.
