As parents and carers we have so many choices to make regarding our young people. Choosing The International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP) and Middle Years Programme (MYP) will enable them to have flexible yet relevant learning experiences and it is the path to developing the attributes of the LearnerProfile (LP).
Through inquiry based learning, the programme prepares students to become “inquirers, thinkers, communicators, risk takers, knowledgeable, principled, caring, open-minded, well-balanced and reflective”. The philosophy behind these LP attributes is that it is a holistic view of education, focusing on developing the student as an inquirer, and developing their international-mindedness.
In the PYP our Programme of Inquiry is published on the website and displays the six Transdisciplinary Themes that provide the framework for learning, four for Early Years, and together with the IB Scope and Sequence, these encompass the curriculum expectations at the International School of Brescia.
In the MYP our subject units for each of the eight subject groups are also published and give information about the concept driven inquiries and content to be taught in each grade.
At the International School of Brescia our committed and professional team of teachers work together to create the learning environment that enables students to have a choice and freedom to direct their own learning. Our classrooms are motivating and engender enthusiasm for learning. Collaborative and active learning takes place in a transdisciplinary approach in every class. Students at the International School of Brescia are eager to be in school and learn in a safe, comfortable and challenging environment.
I offer a warm welcome to our school community and it is a real pleasure to lead and empower the ISB team. Working in close collaboration with our MYP and PYP coordinators we aim to foster and establish exemplary practices and enable all our students to fulfil their full potential.
