Elementary school

Our elementary school currently enrols children between the ages of 5 and 8 (Grades 1 through 3). Guaranteeing parity with standards of the Italian national school system and international schools worldwide, our transdisciplinary curriculum advances across a continuum that engages learners with lessons that are skilfully prepared and professionally presented.
Written, taught and assessed within the IB PYP framework of Standards and Practices, our programme consists of units of inquiry (six per grade, per year) that interconnect the core disciplines. Our teachers collaborate closely, offering a variety of teaching and learning strategies suited to each student’s intellectual, social, physical and personal development. Smartboards and individual Apple iPads are standard technology used by students within each classroom.
English is the language of instruction. However, Italian is offered for 1¼ hours daily. Mandarin Chinese is provided once weekly. Additionally, music is featured each week, while P.E. is offered twice weekly.
An interesting part of IS Brescia’s IB PYP instruction is the culminating exhibition stage during the final year of elementary instruction (Grade 6). At that time, students demonstrate their accrued knowledge by way of a special project of their own choosing and design. Offering a challenge and a reward, the exhibition creates a memorable conclusion to a brilliant and prosperous beginning.
